Wow! What a nice day! We had a sprinkle of rain about 8AM, but from there on you could not have asked for a nicer fall day. The bright sun made the contrast from shadow to sun bit of a challenge on the targets, still I think we all preferred that over cold fingers!
Dave Dunkle had his best day at our range with a 454-5X, congratulations to Dave!
Matt Smith almost broke into the 400’s with his Ruger 10-22 with the Tech Sights peep sights. They make a “no drill” peep sight for the SKS too. If anybody is interested the club has one of the SKS peep sights for $65. The SKS with decent sights is probably the cheapest rifle you could put on the line and expect to be competitive. The SKS could be a good rifle for kids to start out with. Small investment just in case it only gets shot once!
Cast bullets in a Springfield shoot very well, Mausers probably will shoot them just as well. It is a lot of fun to cast your own bullets and see how well you can make them shoot. Cast bullets are another way of cutting costs.
Our last match scheduled in 2010 will be November 14th. Mark that on your calendar! No afternoon relay on the 14th due to a shotgun turkey shoot that starts at 1PM.
As an added note, you can check your scores for the year on the Springs Rod & Gun Club web site: www.springsrodandgunclub.org.
Thanks for coming today.
