The weather really turned out much better than what was forecast although the bright sun at times made shooting difficult. Light conditions were constantly changing as clouds crossed in front of the sun at irregular intervals. Surprisingly some excellent scores were shot – look at the slow prone scores.
Andrew Burr must have been sleeping during the offhand, after that he cranked things up and shot very well. Too bad the match didn't go on longer! I noted that Ed Wineland gained something like 75 points over his October score. Nice going Ed! Dan Gruver may have shot his best score ever at the SR&GC. Another nice going.
With this last match of 2013 our thoughts go toward what we ought to do next year. Your ideas are welcome. One proposed change is to start with the bolt closed on an empty chamber for safety, another is to start firing in position – we do get crowded when we have a full relay. Should we follow the same format for all matches or break things up by adding some slow firing in all positions thus eliminating the rapid events?
This has been a good year for us. We continue to gain a shooter or two making it worthwhile to hold these matches. There are a lot of folks out there that would enjoy shooting with us, I guess we have to give them time to find us.
Thanks for all the fun.
